Positives Strides Psychotherapy

Hi, I’m Ed, a fully qualified counsellor and founder of Positive Strides. I work using an integrative practice, drawing on a blend of Psychodynamic, Person Centred and Existential approaches enabling me to tailor therapy to the individual. This allows me to respond flexibly to your needs, recognising that no two people or experiences are the same.

My work focuses on helping clients gain a deeper understanding of themselves, including recognising patterns in thoughts, feelings, and behaviours that may be impacting their wellbeing and relationships. By gradually exploring these patterns together, you can begin to create meaningful change and develop authentic ways of being.

I aim to provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental environment where you can feel open to exploring your needs and challenges. Building a trusting therapeutic relationship is central to my work, as I believe this forms the foundation for effective and lasting therapy.

I have a special interest in outdoor therapy because it supports my believe that being present with the natural world can encourage us to reconnect with our authentic selves. Walking outdoors naturally reduces cortisol levels and by doing so helps alleviate inevitable life challenges. As well as my counselling qualifications I have extensive experience from working in a secondary school SEN/SEMH department, the emergency services, agriculture and charity work. I am an individual member of the BACP and my practice adheres to their ethical framework.

I work towards supporting clients through a range of challenges including but not limited to:

Self Esteem, Loneliness, Stress, Burnout, Work-Related Issues, Anxiety, Low Mood, Depression, PTSD, Phobias, Family & Relationship Issues, Bereavement, Understanding Neurodiversity, Trauma, Addiction, Gender Identity, Chronic Illness.

Sessions are open ended which means there is no limit to amount of time that we can work together; however regular weekly sessions can be more effective.

All counselling services take place on the farm, with open spaces, woodland and tranqility.

If you would like to find out more or feel ready to take the first step please get in touch to arrange an initial consultation or to ask any questions. I look forward to hearing from you.

What Is Counselling and How Can It Help?

Counselling offers a warm, confidential space where you can talk openly about life’s challenges, without pressure or judgment. It is a place to feel heard, understood, and supported as you explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences with a trained professional.

Life can be challenging at times, and you may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, low, or stuck. You might be facing a specific difficulty, coping with a painful life event, or simply feeling unsure about how to move forward. Counselling can help you slow things down, make sense of what you are experiencing, and feel less alone with it.

Counselling is a collaborative process. You are not told what to do or expected to have all the answers. Instead, we work together to explore what feels difficult, understand patterns that may be holding you back, and find ways to support your emotional wellbeing. Over time, this can help build confidence, resilience, and a greater sense of balance in your life.

Counselling can support you through both short-term challenges and longer-standing concerns. It can also be a space for personal growth, self-discovery, and positive change. Sessions are guided by your needs and move at a pace that feels comfortable and right for you.

Counselling Services

In Person Counselling (50 minute session)
£70.00

In person counselling provides a safe, confidential space where you can talk openly about your thoughts, feelings and experiences. Meeting in person allows for a more personal and immediate connection, helping you feel truly heard and understood.

Outdoor Counselling (50 minute session)
£70.00

Positive Strides takes counselling outside the traditional therapy room, combining the benefits of professional support with the calming and restorative effects of nature.

Being outdoors can help reduce stress, improve mood, and create a sense of freedom and perspective. Your sessions may involve walking on the farm, or simply sitting in a natural environment, providing a safe space to reflect, explore emotions, and work through challenges.

Online Counselling (50 minute session)
£70.00

I offer online therapy via Zoom allowing you to access support from the comfort of your own home. It provides flexibility for those with busy schedules, mobility challenges, or who live further away from the practice.

Online therapy still allows for a confidential and safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings, work through challenges, and develop coping strategies. It can be just as effective as face-to-face counselling in many cases.
